A family from the USA made an unexpected discovery in a wardrobe on their boat. UPI reports.
In Florida, a family living on a houseboat discovered a large snake in a sock drawer. It turned out to be a yellow garter snake, also known as a climbing polo snake. The boat owners suspected that the snake had crawled inside the boat to escape the bad weather.
They called a mate over to pull the intruder out of the box, but the snake managed to bite him on the hand. The injury turned out to be minor.
In Nizhny Novgorod, a 100-kilogram homeless dog rescued by volunteers has lost more than 35 kilograms on a diet. This was reported by the animal welfare charity fund “Compassion NN”.
Employees of the organisation sent the dog, named Krugets, to a veterinary clinic for treatment in October. Due to his overweight, the dog was practically unable to stand on his feet and could no longer walk. He is currently still being hospitalised. In order for Kruget’s volunteers to carry out the necessary examinations, he must lose at least twice as much weight.
In India, three women were attacked by a bear in one day. This was reported by the Times of India (TOI).
The incidents took place on Tuesday, 19 December, in Balangir, Orissa. The wild animal first pounced on 56-year-old resident Mukhi Maharatha, who was picking flowers near her house. The woman’s screams were heard by her relatives. They managed to snatch her away from the animal and send it fleeing. Maharatha suffered head injuries.
Shortly afterwards, the same bear attacked two waste pickers – 40-year-old Gita Netam and 30-year-old Hina Sunani. They were collecting rubbish from the roadside when the aggressive animal appeared nearby and attacked them. The women also managed to fend off the animal.
In the London suburb of Tuikenham in the UK, aggressive crows have begun attacking visitors to the Greggs bakery chain. This was reported by The Sun newspaper.
The birds terrorised men, women and children who were buying baked goods in the shop. One resident nearly suffered facial injuries when a crow swooped and snatched the bacon from her sandwich. In another case, the birds circled a little boy coming out of the bakery with his father. According to eyewitnesses, the child was frightened and cried.
A US citizen with a gun in his hand fought off a bear that attacked his dog in his backyard. KCRA-TV reports.
The incident took place on Saturday 9 December in Sierra County, California. The man was walking his dog in his backyard. He later went outside to see how his pet was doing. At that moment, a bear lunged at him from the backyard of a neighbour’s house.
The man was injured but managed to free himself and reached for his gun. At that moment, the wild animal collided with his dog. The American shot the bear, whereupon it ran away. The man was taken to hospital, where he spent some time healing his wounds.
