Specialists from the Beijing police reported on the method used to identify users who transfer data from one iPhone to another. This was reported by Bloomberg.
Media journalists referred to the authorities’ reports that Chinese engineers have learnt how to hack AirDrop – a function of Apple technology that transfers data via Bluetooth. The new method allows law enforcement agencies to track which device a particular piece of information was transferred from and identify the name of the owner.
The police found that AirDrop is often used by troublemakers who share various media files in public places. A user who receives a photo or video via Bluetooth on their device does not know the sender’s contact – AirDrop encrypts their data. However, the experts from Beijing stated that they had managed to circumvent the protection.
